On the last chapter of the Stock Broker described where to find a stock market report and now we will show you how to find a report so you could start to analyze the information on it.
To find more about a share you would need to know the stock symbol. The stock symbols are not always so clearly defined, but this is not a big deal you can find most places the stock symbol using a company name and the symbol is looks almost the on all web sites. We do recommend to write down your favourite symbols because it is easier to follow the shares daily basis using the stock symbols.
For example to find a Vodafone Group details on ShareCast.com open the page and look for on the left side of page a text box where is written “Search name or ticker“. Enter code VOD into it and click on the “go” button.
The page will open a search results page and on there click on “Vodafone Group” link. The next page should look something like on the following picture below.
To look for a company name use the same search box and enter the company name – “Vodafone“. The site will bring you on the search result screen again and after opening the company details link you will end up on the same Vodafone Group stock page.
Next we will try to find the same page on The UK Yahoo Finance site. Enter the uk.finance.yahoo.com URL and on the main page you’ll find a text box with yellow button “Get Quotes“. Enter the Vodafone Group name or the VOD stock symbol as it is on the following picture.
As you see Yahoo adds additional suffix “.L” for London equity because Yahoo has international list of stocks and to bring out the London Stock Exchange shares the additional letter is needed. Take a look at the picture above you also can find the second Vodafone Group share in the list and the stock market belongs to Buenos Aires (Argentina).
Coming back to the London shares; after entering “VOD.L” and press button “Get Quotes” the following page will open.
Take a look at the chart and prices on the picture above and compare it with the ShareCast one the same line and numbers are on the both pictures. All sites have the same information and the difference may come from time delay.
We haven’t look at the 3rd place and the most important source or the main source – London Stock Exchange ( www.londonstockexchange.com ). Use the link or the URL to open their site and there click on menu “Prices and markets” to open the searching page (see the following picture).
Enter the “VOD” stock symbol or “Vodafone” word and press the “Search” button. On the search result page click on the company name which is “VODAFONE GRP.“.
The following page is about the company and it’s share details and also don’t forget to look at the prices and compare with the sites above.
Also you can find the chart under the “Interactive chart” menu and the line is looking as the charts above.
Now you should be able to find a stock symbol belong to a company. Still before starting to do investing in stocks you need to know how to read the company details and charts to make the better decision about investing.
